How I work
How I run a bar.
Flow.
Set the bar up so people aren't tripping over each other or waiting on a fridge.
Scale.
Four bartenders or a hundred, the basics don't really change. The queue just gets longer.
Control.
Keep an eye on stock, tills and safety, and sort things before they become problems.

The job
What I actually do.
Teams & briefings
Mixed crews, some who've done it for years and some on their first shift. I do the briefings, move people around when it gets busy and keep things sensible when it gets messy.
Licensing
I hold a Personal Licence, so Challenge 25, incident logs and making sure staff know where they stand.
Tills & EPOS
Epos Now, Zonal, Onvi Control, Kappture and Square. Once you've used a few, the rest aren't hard to pick up.
Stock calls
Keeping an eye on levels during service and getting the runners or trucks over before we run out. Nobody wants to explain why there's no lager mid-headliner.
MDUs & draught
Mobile dispense units, draught lines and changing kegs without the bar grinding to a halt. Usually.
